Nature's Sanctuary was designed and built in 2022, inspired by the mindset of being one with Nature.
There will be no other home like Nature's Sanctuary, due to the journey we took to find the right architect to design and develop the blueprints for the builder.
We had gone through six local Architects, but none was able to define the vision I had drawn out on paper and translate it into an engineered drawing. Not until I ventured onto the Fiverr app was I able to locate "that guy" to understand my idea and translate it into a document. In fact, it took two Architects to create their own designs, then bring them together into one at last. One Architect was Reja from Bangladesh, the other was Ar. Jamshaid from Pakistan. So, how unique is that?
Then we began interviewing builders. It was hit and miss to find one who would come all the way out to Camp Bay to build.
The road back then was rough and sometimes hard to get through. For others who were based out of the West End or Mid-Island, it would take them one to two hours to get here, then another one to two to get back at night. Not a feasible possibility.
We came across a builder, Daniel Parson. He had built the West End resort of Paul's Turtle Beach, which we had stayed at on our visit here in 2021. We liked that design and the way it was put together in separate units.
Then we began getting WhatsApps and messages from other people who have had their homes built here by Daniel.
All unsolicited and none referred to by the builder. It was generic and special.
Decision made - it was a local generational home-builder, Daniel Parson, who took those architectural drawings and modified them to fit within the specs of the Santos Guardiola Muni permitting requirements.
Once Daniel met us at the home we were renting in Calabash Bight, and he learned and understood what we were in search of, he went to the build site with us.
It was incredible to see him, barefoot, climb onto a tree, up over 12' in the air, looked around, measuring and going through all the calculations in his creative mind.
He came down from the tree with a big smile, saying it can be done. We had us a builder. First thing he did was construct a makeshift bodega, which would come down after the build was done.

The home was crafted entirely from indigenous woods sourced through a local supplier. Precious, not only because wood is costly, but also because high-quality wood is now difficult to source.
The intentional three-pod design meant to awaken the senses, to foster a seamless connection with the surroundings, to include the sounds of the wind through the tree leaves into every aspect of living on an island rich in lush vegetation.
This is the only home in the development with a double-height allowance, a special consideration that permitted each structure to be built 10, 13, and 18 feet off the ground, respectively.
There is ample room to build underneath each structure if so desired and still achieve high ceilings, retaining an airy atmosphere.
Each pod is connected through open deck space, which, together with the pool deck, adds up to 1,229 sq. ft. of outdoor living, then 800 sq. ft. of indoor living. This totals 2,029 sq. ft. living space, above the ground.
